The Big Brother's First Road Trip
Our first family trip: 600 miles around Oregon, starting in Eugene. A rough journal from our tour can be found on crazyguyonabike.com
A bike tour with a 10-month-old is totally possible and completely awesome!

Elle's Tour With the Ladies
Taking newbies on bike tours is one of my favorite things in the world! My friends Marnie and Bekah trusted me enough to lead them on a three-day journey in Humboldt County.
Weekend Adventures
Folsom Lake Campground at Beal's Point--A fantastic 30 miles each way (from our house), almost entirely along the American River Bike Trail. The actual campground is right at the end of the trail. There's a pretty steep grade up for the last 3 miles or so but it is totally worth it! Hagan Park also makes a great rest stop in the middle. The campground is beautiful and green with some sites off the road a bit. It costs $25 a night and there aren't any bike/hike spots, sadly. I would recommend making a reservation beforehand, just in case. Here is an account of our first trip there.
Sacramento-Modesto-Stockton-Home
Testing ourselves and our ability to visit friends without driving. This trip was rough and amazing at the same time. Central California Cycling provided some fantastic routes but our connecting parts needed some work. Totally doable and mostly fun. Check it out.
Mama and Big Brother ride to Chico!
I took a 4-year-old on a 213 mile bike ride up to Chico on my own! The ride was amazing and challenging and wonderful. I have never talked so much about dinosaurs in my life. It may not have ended as planned but it showed me that it is possible. Our journal is up on Crazy Guy to read.
Sacramento to Ione
We were trying to get to Pine Grove to check out Indian Grinding Rock and stay at with warmshowers host. They had their teepee and firepit all ready for us. The last 10 miles were straight uphill, gaining 1500' in elevation. We didn't make it. It was a bummer but still quite an adventure! You can check out day 1 and day 2. Next time, we'll attempt it over three days instead.
