Today was just a day like any other. My annual "Honey, I'm pregnant" joke didn't work this year. We began the morning with a ride to the Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento, then rode along the American River Bike Trail to do some errands, finally, home. A simple day made brighter with the addition of our bike rides. It's always nice to have the whole family riding together. Even when we don't have anywhere exciting to go, it truly is the journey that is the most fulfilling. The Today also kicked off the start to our 30 Days Of Biking challenge. I've never ridden 30 days in a row so I am excited to see how this goes.
It's fun to know that there are other bike fools like us. Sometimes I forget while I'm riding quietly along a busy street filled with SUVs--most with only one person in the car. It's easy to feel forgotten as you watch a car drift into your bike lane as if you didn't exist. However, then I see all the fun events other bikers are putting together, the amazing photos and stories people are telling, the hard work people accomplish by bike and I am reminded that Cyclists are strong and powerful. One of my favorite things is to check out a fellow cyclist's rig only to catch them checking out mine. There is an unspoken connection that deserves and smile and a nod. We all know that it's not the easiest choice to leave the car in the driveway and pick up your bike but that it is the best choice. I love getting emails and messages from other riders about what is working for them or questions about what is working for me. I am constantly floored by the innovations and creativity that is abundant in this community and I am so happy to be able to be a part of it.
Happy riding!
