Tim at Practical Cycle took the time to tighten my spokes and add my headset extender while the boys and I played trains at the Railroad Museum. Usually, we love going there (we have a membership) but I had forgotten it was Spring Break for many schools so we were met with a wall of crazy train-loving children. It was a bit overwhelming for Big Brother so only stayed for about an hour and a half (whew). Our Mundo was ready to go so we rode back to 'Nama's house to head out to REI to get the Yepp Windshield I've been wanting. Sadly, the one that they had was missing some hardware a bit scratched already so although we used it to get home, I don't think it will be staying much longer with us. However, I already notice a big difference with it on. Little Brother wasn't getting all the wind in his face and he stayed warmer and happier. I don't think it would really be necessary if we were just going a couple of miles at a time but because we are making this commitment and effort to change our lifestyle, Little Brother's happiness is of utmost importance. I'm pretty sure this project would fail miserably if we were only able to go short distances or suffer the screams.
Little Brother actually fit in some decent naps on the bike (I even left him out in the backyard at 'Nama's house so he could sleep. Thank you Stand-Alone!) Big Brother, on the other hand, had not gotten much sleep last night and without a nap, he was a mess by 3:30pm. We rode home with him saying "I don't like you, mama, I don't like your house," for about five minutes, then he asked to see the ducks so we made a pit-stop at Sutter's Fort, and finally, he fell asleep as we turned down our block. He stayed asleep as I loaded Little Brother and our gear into the house then I transfered him to his bed. He's still there--2 hours later. I almost think I should see if he sleeps through the night but then again, I don't want him up and running around at 4am. Anyway, this isn't a parenting blog--please excuse the ramblings of a mother who hasn't had enough sleep in about 4 years. It does get better, doesn't it???
